Training for Planning Officials

On Thursday May 28, 2020, from 4:30pm-9:00pm, Greene County Economic Development, Tourism & Planning and Columbia County Planning  in cooperation with New York Department of State Local Government Services will be holding a four-hour training session for county and local planning officials.

The training seminar will be held at the Greene County Emergency Services Training Center, 25 Volunteer Drive, Cairo.

Each member of county and local planning boards in New York must, by law, complete at a minimum of four hours of training each year designed to enable them to more effectively carry out their duties. Full attendance at all sessions of this training opportunity will provide planning board members the four hours of mandatory training as required by law.

Topics tentatively slated to be covered at this year’s training are:

  • County web map training (a split session for Greene County and Columbia County attendees)
  • 2020 US Census
  • Short term rentals
  • Spot Zone or Grant the Illegal Use Variance
