Health Insurance & RX Drug Programs

Many public insurance programs are available to provide New York State residents with health insurance coverage.  These include Medicaid, Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and Medicare.  Programs are also available to help people afford prescription drugs.

The Healthcare Consortium provides assistance to Greene and Columbia County residents in applying for public health insurance coverage through its ‘Covering the Uninsured’ program.  The Healthcare Consortium also helps residents apply for prescription drug assistance through its ‘Prescription Access’ program.

Prescription Drug Discount Card

If you are uninsured or underinsured and paying cash for your prescription drugs, the Greene County Prescription Drug Discount Card, offered through ProAct, can provide immediate financial relief at the pharmacy counter.

Program Highlights:

  • Any resident, regardless of age or income, can participate.
  • Discount card is accepted at all Greene County pharmacies and at over 55,000 pharmacies nationwide.
  • Discount card covers ALL prescription medications, brand or generic.  Prescriptions for pets would also be covered.
  • Average savings:
    • 10-20% on Brand drugs
    • 20-70% on Generic drugs
